Diego Rodríguez is a Colombian director, creative, scriptwriter, and photographer based in Barcelona. His work spans television, film, and advertising, moving between documentary and fiction with a particular focus on territory, identity, and the relationship between humans and nature. He is a recipient of the New Talents Grant from Colombia’s Ministry of Culture, and his documentary In Search of the Apaporis Caiman was nominated for Best Documentary at both the India Catalina Awards and the TAL Awards, consolidating his presence within the Latin American documentary landscape.
Diego is also a recipient of the ESCAC Talent Grant, through which he has developed several projects, including Indio, a feature film that has received support from Colombia’s Film Development Fund (FDC). The project reflects his interest in character-driven storytelling rooted in cultural and environmental contexts, bridging local narratives with universal themes.
During his academic training, he wrote, directed, and produced the short film Aurora, which was nominated for Best Short Film at SECIME, marking an early recognition of his authorial voice and narrative sensibility.
In television, Diego has worked as a director on the series Héroes al rescate animal for RTVC, combining documentary storytelling with educational and social impact goals. Alongside his directing work, he has served as producer and assistant director on multiple documentary and advertising projects, collaborating with international brands and networks such as National Geographic, Discovery Channel, Scotiabank, and Amazon.
Parallel to his work in film and television, Diego has developed a strong career in photography, primarily within the fashion industry. His photographic practice explores visual storytelling through portraiture, atmosphere, and identity, collaborating with designers, brands, and creative teams across editorial and commercial projects.
He has also built a solid career in the advertising industry, working as a creative director on campaigns for major regional and international brands such as Enel, Enel Green Power, MercadoLibre, Bancos Aval, and WOM. This commercial experience has strengthened his ability to translate complex ideas into clear and emotionally engaging visual narratives while working within fast-paced production environments and multidisciplinary teams.
Diego continues to develop original film and documentary projects while working across formats that connect cinematic storytelling with contemporary cultural and environmental realities.
